Welcome!
My name is Laura Helbling and I am a mental health therapist who believes in healing pain through genuine connection, honesty, and trust. Therapy with me is a partnership, where you bring your expertise on yourself, I’ll bring my expertise as a clinician, and together we’ll collaborate on a path forward that meets your goals and therapeutic needs. Through this relationship I hope to help you build a deeper compassion for yourself and to look at the world with more compassion as well.
I received my BA in psychology from the University of Maryland in College Park, and an MSW from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. I am a clinically licensed social worker in the state of Maryland (LCSW-C) and in the state of Colorado (LCSW) and I am a certified level-1 trauma therapist through The Ferentz Institute. I specialize in working with older teens and adults who struggle to feel seen, loved, or understood, and who desire to meet themselves more intimately. Mindfulness, authenticity, skill coaching, and connection are core to my practice and I'm an LGBTQIA+ affirming clinician who holds non-judgmental space for those navigating their gender and sexual identity.
I believe in tailoring my care to fit the unique needs of my clients, so in my therapeutic work I use a variety of evidence based and trauma informed interventions to meet your therapeutic needs. Such interventions include: IFS (internal family systems), Mindfulness, DBT (Dialectical behavioral therapy), and somatic therapy.
Areas of treatment for both teens and adults include but are not limited to: Depression, substance use/dependance, self-harm, PTSD, generalized anxiety, men’s issues, life transitions, grief, relationship issues and self-esteem.
